RJ31X-Kit
The RJ31X-Kit allows the Rescue Alert Medical Alarm (RA400 model) to call for help when activated even when another telephone extension is off-hook in the house. (see note)
A normal telephone jack (RJ11) uses two wires. The RJ31X jack can use up to 8 wires and a special telephone cable featuring a wider head to support the extra wires. These extra connections allow the Rescue Alert to take control of the telephone line even if another extension is currently off-hook.
After proper installation of the RJ31X-Kit, all of your telephones in the house will continue to work normally with or without the Rescue Alert connected. Only a Rescue Alert can be connected to the RJ31X jack. Connecting other telephone devices will cause all of your telephones in the house to stop working. To connect the Rescue Alert to the RJ31X jack, you must use the Rescue Alert RJ31X cable. This cable is supplied in the RJ31X-Kit and has the wide 8-pin plug on each end.
Installation of the kit is straightforward. The RJ31X jack is mounted to the wall near an existing RJ11 jack and wired into the existing telephone lines.
